Briarwood Acres Labradors is a small kennel dedicated to developing the Labrador Retriever with the ideal temperament, possessing a special blend of intelligence, honesty and kindness. We strive to produce a Labrador that is versatile in the field - retrieving over land and water, in trials and in nature - and a Labrador that is competitive in the show ring, as well as capable while working for those in need. The Labrador Retriever's ability to learn quickly and it's eagerness to please, give it great potential in the obedience and agility rings as well.
At Briarwood Acres Labradors we take care to insure that all of our breeding dogs are tested for genetic problems before we breed them. We are breeding to improve the breed but also because we love to have Labrador puppies around us. All of our dogs and puppies are kept in our home, and we typically only breed one litter per year. All of our pet puppies are sold on AKC Limited Registration and we have a screening process to help pick the right homes for our dogs.
We are located on 5 wooded acres in Chaplin, Connecticut. Chaplin is situated in the Quiet Corner just 10 miles from the University of Connecticut in Storrs. We are associated with the Pawcatuck River Labrador Retriever Club, a labrador specialty club covering eastern Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Our family of Labrador lovers includes Tom and Robin Hoagland and our three grown children, M.E., Ally and Drew.
Tom and Robin both have advanced degrees in animal science so breeding and training is a natural extension to our education.
Enjoy visiting our website and looking at our dogs. We update often with news of new titles, new pictures and upcoming litters.
